The Egg Hunt and Squirrels
Today, we were invited on an Easter Egg hunt in Riverside Park. The plastic eggs (all 120 of them) were filled with chocolates, candy and prizes. They were gingerly placed in crevices of trees, branches and nooks. The sun was shining and it was a crisp 50 degrees. Then…the squirrels starting coming…from every direction, up from the branches, across from the sides of the park…scores of squirrels were attacking our eggs, opening them and eatting the chocolates. There were 13 kids and they were running after the eggs, then away from them and then towards them. They were aggressive (the squirrels, not the kids). I, the photographer in the group, couldn’t take photos of this meyhem as I had images of kids in the emergency room waiting for rabies shots, so I started running after them (the squirrels, not the kids) with stick in hand banging on the ground and the trees (quite a site). The kids survived, no rabies shots, with a little less candy, but smiles all around. Thanks LB for a great adventure !
