Chickfest

Not what most Tumblrs or Twitterers are thinking…I just had the over 40 idea of a chickfest weekend…pure bliss…36 hours outside of the city with my best, best, best friends from college.  We crave our annual weekend retreat where we indulge in pure narcisism - yoga, massage, magazines (and really trashy ones), and plenty of vino (sorry Tumblrs, not Phelps’ guilty pleasure)….not on the list: husbands, children, books, politics and work.  What new things made the list this year — what was hot: losers that we are — at least half of our waking ours were spent online, we launched a new website for one of us, fine-tuned a slide show for another one of us, stalked (I mean looked for) past boyfriends on Facebook, obsessed about everything Barak and Michelle (we love them), and so much more.  What did I learn — we all need some downtime, a little calm from the craziness that we navigate everyday; this makes us all better wives and mothers and people; I love my best friends and they are my family — I would do anything for them; they sustain me; we support each other; we laugh together; we have cried together…but this past weekend, we just watched lots of movies, drank lots of wine, saw a deer or two….and just let the stress melt away…
