Friggin’ Unplug!

Yes, I love technology and I love the gadgets even more (Best Buy has ALWAYS been my favorite store)…but what the heck (using polite words now)…my G5 hard drive blew as I tried to download 4,000 of my favorite photos from an external hardrive (yes, I needed them synced to my Living Room AppleTV).  What do i do?  This computer IS my life….can I carry it to Tekserve (negative), can I carry it to my IT friends at work (neg)…what do I do?  I beg my work-IT guru who happens to be the smartest man I have ever met to make a housecall.  How friggin’ embarassing. I have this tech savant at my apartment in the guts of the G5 for 3 hours only to tell me that my hard drive is fried, buy a new one, install it and they copy everything over (or what is left on the fried harddrive) to the new one. Yuck.  Ok, so I do this and I sweat and curse and palpitate for 3 weeks until this final installation is done. Whew.  Done and back up and running….but then….I try to hack into my bedroom AppleTV with a slick cool Boxee app (yes, I do need to watch Hulu in bed!), and the code, the USB downloader, the slick interface fries my MacBook and AppleTV.  Friggin’ hell I am in, so I frantically try to restore the factory setting on the AppleTV, reboot and pray.  I wipe and then reinstall Leopard and i’life on the macbook, and i wait and pray….holy ship.  What do I do — it looks like I will be keeping that Apple stock pumped up with yet another hardware upgrade at the Apple Store in Meat Packing during lunch today.  What the frig? Is it too much to ask to have a wireless, connected high tech media home…at least today it is…
